Reuben Bair started R. A. Bair in 1951 delivering City Service Products using one truck. In 1955, he became a Crown Petroleum distributor. Through the 1950’s and 1960’s Rueben delivered to residential homes, farms, and local businesses based in the greater York County area. His son, Ken Bair, joined the family business in 1968 after serving in Vietnam. In 1970 R. A. Bair started servicing and installing heating systems which was the official beginning of the service department.
Rebecca (Becky) Bair joined the company the same year to help manage the growing internal obligations. R. A. Bair officially became R. A. Bair & Son Inc. in 1977 to adapt to our increasing service offerings. Thomas (Tom) Bair, Reuben’s grandson, got his start in the business by riding along with Ken as child to assist on deliveries and service calls. He officially started part time in 1989 as a service technician which transitioned into becoming the Service Manager in 1995. Reuben’s other grandchild, Tammy Bair, eventually joined the company in 2002 as the primary customer service representative. As we continue to grow and evolve as a company, the importance of a family owned business that serves the local community we live in will remain the same.
